The first F-4s went into operational service in October 1972, and after much testing and service evaluation the Israeli Air Force selected the F-4E Phantom II for frontline service. The F-4E became the IAF's primary fighter aircraft in the 1980s and 1990s, with Israel receiving around 200 Phantoms, making it one of the most numerous in the IAF.
The Phantom was first flown on April 24, 1969, and by March 1971 the IAF had placed orders for 400, with an option for 150 more. In June 1971, three prototype F-4IIs took to the skies, with American help being restricted to radar and autopilot settings. The IAF was impressed by what they saw and placed an order for 150 more. After some minor changes to the exterior, the F-4I adopted the Phantom II's full-dress appearance.
At the top of the main Milviz F4 Phantom menu there are a number of submenu items, although I'll just mention the two that will be of most value to us. To start with, there is a Blue-tongue F-4 Phantom II menu group. Blue-tongues are usually F-4s built as testbeds and are used for a variety of varied aerodynamic and weapons trials.
Then there is the F-4 Phantom II selected blue-tongue menu group. This was the most successful of all the F-4 Phantom variations. In this image, you can see that there are a number of F-4s in the air, flying a relative slow sightseeing pattern. There are 12 on display and I've manually added a couple of the F-4s into the production line. 7211a4ac4a
